About My Work
10 years ago I finished my BA in Fine Art in London, and I now work in my garden studio near Cambridge, UK. I had been working in an antiques store and was inspired to start making jewellery from old cutlery. There is a history of 'spoon rings' starting in 17th century England; servants who were too poor to buy engagement rings would steal a piece of silver tableware and craft them into rings to gift to their sweetheart. Each item is unique and the design depends on what I find in local antiques stores. Many of these items are sold for scrap so it is nice to be able to give objects with history a new purpose. I only work with solid silver because it is an excellent metal to work with and the finished piece is a much higher quality. The rings are not 'closed' so it is relatively easy for me to adjust them, a ring being adjustable gives it more longevity for the wearer too as over time our fingers can change size. Learning new skills is a passion of mine so expect to see more unusual creations in my shop!
