Silk Painting Workshops

5% Discount for couples! Use code: SILKY

Explore the art of silk painting and make a beautiful silk suncatcher.
Suitable for beginners.

In a small group at the workshop we will be create a silk painting in a 9 inch circular frame, ready for hanging as a suncatcher or wall hanging. First we will do a test piece, to get used to the materials. We use gutta resist to make outlines and then the best bit - painting on the silk and seeing the colour bleed into the material, similar to watercolour. Deeply satisfying and therapeutic!

Lots and lots of different design templates will be provided so everyone will be able to make something to their style; flowers, animals, plants and underwater themes. Tutor Nathan will guide you through some basic techniques, and you are of course welcome to bring your own design if you wish, I recommend a simple design if you are a beginner.

The workshop typically takes 1 - 2 hours.

"Such a fantastic workshop! Nathan is a patient and down-to-earth teacher, he really knows his stuff and makes it easy to learn. Very friendly and warm. The ring making technique is pretty simple and it gives amazing results. It's so satisfying designing and making something beautiful from scratch, makes it more special to wear the ring."
