Create your own sterling silver ring or pendant. Learn about the lost wax casting process, then design and make a wax piece ready for casting. Not suitable for young children.

In a small group of no more than 6 people we will be making our very own solid silver rings or pendants using the lost wax casting technique. Lost wax is a process starting with crafting the jewellery with wax. A mould is made around the wax, and then molten silver is poured into the mould which burns away the wax and leaves a perfect cast in silver.

In the workshop we will be creating our pieces out of wax, which is a wonderful and adaptable material to work with, even beginners will find it easy to work with, and the detail is remarkable - you can have fingerprint detail if you wish to!

The wax jewellery will then be taken offsite for casting, Nathan will finish and polish your silver piece and post back to you. An additional option is to have oxidation (blacking) applied at this final stage, this technique is great for bringing out textural details.

The workshop takes 2.5 - 3 hours, if you need more time to work on your piece attendees are welcome back to later workshops or to continue working on their wax from home.

What to bring: You should have a couple of ideas and images of the type of ring or pendant you would like to make, if you use reading glasses you should bring those too.

"Such a fantastic workshop! Nathan is a patient and down-to-earth teacher, he really knows his stuff and makes it easy to learn. Very friendly and warm. The ring making technique is pretty simple and it gives amazing results. It's so satisfying designing and making something beautiful from scratch, makes it more special to wear the ring."
